I am a proud “Bleeding Heart Progressive Liberal”.
I CARE about other people.
I hold in highest esteem those who exemplify the cardinal VIRTUES and I hold in very low esteem any inclination toward the cardinal VICES … except for righteous indignation against any abuse of people, privilege or power.
I believe in FAIRNESS. I have seen destitution in the wealthiest nation on earth where unfortunate “forgotten” people daily suffer economically through no fault of their own.
I believe in EQUALITY, EQUAL OPPORTUNITY and EGALITARIANISM.
I reject “White Supremacy” and exclusionary “Nationalism”. I believe a country is richer, safer, and more resilient with “open mindedness”, acceptance, cultivation of strategic alliances, and beneficent policies and actions, with a collective aspiration toward overcoming limitations.
I believe in the SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE. The STATE should not have to lean on sectarian religions teaching to uphold the highest moral code, but, in a true democracy, should be permissive to any and all religious inclinations consistent with the highest moral code – secular or otherwise.
I believe in EDUCATION based on facts and scientific inquiry, not on ideology. I decry efforts to support “private education” with publicly generated government funding. Anyone inclined to “privately” educate their children should be willing to pay for it – except in cases where standard public education is unsuitable, due to learning disabilities or health concerns.
I support an intense level of ACCULTURATION – training Next Gen individuals on what it takes to realize their full personal potential within a CAPITALISTIC system. This includes early access to internships, apprenticeships and other broadly based engagement opportunities
I believe in ACCOUNTABILITY. I believe in STRICT SUPERVISION/OVERSIGHT of those who are either unable or unwilling to give a positive account of themselves, beginning as early as possible.
I believe in government-supported, universal healthcare. One’s health and wellbeing should not be subject to AFFORDABILITY or to the limits and excesses of PROFITABILITY … except, perhaps, in “optional” practices and procedures, such as cosmetic surgery.
I believe in application of the very best, scientifically based, “Approvable” medical interventions, including vaccines. Any effort “to do the most good for the most people through the best available medicine” should not be spared. Scientific approaches applied to a diverse population will undoubtedly cause some collateral damage, at least early in the going. But perfection is achieved in small steps and diligent testing generally minimizes “side effects”, Intense application of small pox vaccine has been a major success. The last known natural case was in Somalia in 1977. In 1980 WHO declared smallpox eradicated.
Measles was essentially eliminated in the U.S. in the year 2000 due to extensive application of the measles vaccine in school-age children.
The measles virus is one of the most contagious infectious diseases to exist. 90% of unvaccinated people who are exposed end up contracting it. Additionally, one in five of those people end up hospitalized, according to the CDC. A politically motivated, scientifically unsubstantiated assertion of autism associated with the vaccine led large numbers of parents to withhold the vaccine from their children beginning in 2020, seriously compromising the effect of “herd immunity”. In consequence, so far, at least two unvaccinated children have died.
